My apologies for the problems some of you had with Tuesday’s post. Hopefully that problem has been fixed.
Yesterday’s post hinted at the spectacular show going on right now in the deserts of Southern California. The pictures below were all taken from a recent visit to the Borrego Springs, California area. It was unlike anything we had ever experienced. God is Good. (Click to enlarge)
A boy enters the landscape and all around the desert rejoices.
A Lenten desert can be very accommodating.
Palm trees figure heavily in Exodus. They give height to the land of the Jew’s captivity, they shelter on their trek from waterhole to waterhole. Later they mark where water can used for settlement. Lent is an exodus too – from the babel of data, passing voices and thrum of everyday sounds to a quiet oasis to find God within and without.
I kinda don’t do guilt. I gave it up for Lent years ago.Fr. Greg Boyle
